Translator’s Note
The following text is the translation of a diary found inside of a foreign research facility. Whether it is a personal diary or an official research log is uncertain, as there seems to be an element of both present within the text.
The translation team has worked hard for a number of years on producing a high quality translation for the contemporary, predominant language in the area of this document’s distribution. There were many times where we, the translation team, were on the verge of giving up on finishing this translation, but with much encouragement from interested parties we were able to see the project through to the end.
Certain words contained in this diary had no direct equivalent in the contemporary language, or in some cases seemed to have a definition so arcane that it was clear we could never completely translate the word into one found in the contemporary language. In such instances we have made the decision to utilize the contextual words and to give as close a translation for this word as possible and to encase such words with [brackets] to show that the word may have a different meaning, or may be in fact be an unknown pronoun.
There are also instances where the text was written in what we believe was short hand, and as such certain sentences seemed broken and grammatically incorrect. As such, we have taken the liberty to add the necessary parts of the sentence’s structure where we deemed necessary, and these words too have been encased in [brackets].
Also it should be noted that a significant portion of the original text was damaged or missing by the time it reached our hands. Unfortunately there will be instances where entire sections of diary entries will be missing.
Lastly, we the translation team ask that whomever reads this keep in mind that we cannot be sure who exactly wrote the original text, and despite our intimate knowledge of the text we cannot be completely sure as to why it was written, either. We ask that the reader do their utmost to keep an open-mind when reading and discerning the diary’s true, deeper meaning.
